The Klaipeda arena

But there is no competition without training
Especially in the professional surroundings of a European Championship it is the experience of the supplier and the quality of its products that count. Lithuania invested in building three more sports facilities for the Eurobaskets 2011 and chose sports floors made in Germany. For decades, HARO sports floors have been used for European and World Championships. The training halls of the Arena Klaipedos in Klaipeda and the Arena ˇalgirio in Kaunas were equipped with the HARO Sports Floor Helsinki 10 in Ash. Over 700 sqm (7,534 sq feet) and nearly 1300 sqm (13,993 sq feet) were installed permanently. The Helsinki model is a sports floor with an elastic layer and due to its low profile it is also perfect for renovations. Thanks to its even construction, the floor has excellent sports-physiological characteristics. The parquet is given a factory-finished Permadur surface which makes it highly abrasion-resistant and especially easy to care for - highly important characteristics when it comes to longevity and easy care of a sports floor.

Aloha! German Sports Parquet on Hawaii

Brigham Young University Hawaii relies on the new HARO Sports Floor Helsinki 10 Top System

O’ahu (Honolulu County / HI) / Rosenheim – The islands of Hawaii are situated far off the western coast of North America in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.  The Brigham Young University Hawaii (BYU) is on O’ahu. 1800 sqm sports parquet Made in Germany have now been installed there. HARO Sports Flooring, one of the leading manufacturers of mobile and fixed-installed elastic-coating sports floors received the contract due to its high quality of products and service as well as the simple and time-saving installation of the floor.

The new HARO Helsinki 10 Top System saves time and money
There are around 2500 students from over 70 countries at the BYU. The university states that they have a special campus where multi-cultural diversity and academic studies are combined. Sports activities are of high importance at the BYU and this makes the university typically American. The BYU currently offers eleven different types of sport. These range from basketball, volleyball and soccer up to tennis and golf. In all areas, the university focuses on state-of-the-art technical equipment and invests a lot into the new construction of buildings as well as into the training areas for several sports. Of course, as a governmental institution the BYU must mind the costs. After intense and competent advice by the local HARO partner, the persons responsible at the university chose a quality product Made in Germany for the floor of the basketball gym of the "BYU Seasiders". The HARO Sports Helsinki 10 Top System, which was only introduced in November 2010, convinced the university among other things by its quick installation, which saves time and therefore money.

Aloha! German Sports Parquet in the gym of the Brigham Young University of Hawaii (BYU):

8 corners and a humid climate: 1800 sqm of seamlessly installed HARO sports parquet The climatic conditions create a very special challenge: Due to the pacific climate with its fluctuations in air humidity and temperature the floor must be of high dimensional stability.  Moreover, the cutting to size of the octagonal area took a lot of effort. Nevertheless, it took three people only approximately three days. The new HARO Sports Helsinki 10 Top System was able to display its full potential. As the existing, traditionally very light Maple floor in the inner part of the gym area was only refurbished, a more lively grading of the HARO Maple sport parquet was chosen for the outer part of the floor to create a nice visual contrast.

High quality for high requirements
Besides the special climatic and architectural features, the requirements for parquet as a sports floor are very high: It should have ideal damping characteristics to prevent possible injuries and signs of fatigue, have the perfect grip, be abrasion-resistant and have a superb ball reflection for a quick match. The Model Helsinki 10 Top System Maple in lively grading by HARO Sports Flooring can provide that: It consists of an elastic layer and a factory-made mounting element with a classical 12,6 mm / 1/2’’ parquet construction and integrated load distribution. Thanks to its thin 3,6 mm / 5/32’’ solid wood top layer, the sports floor is dimensionally more stable than a traditional solid wood floor. The parquet is given a factory-finished Permadur surface which makes it highly abrasion-resistant and especially easy to care for. As the hall is used permanently, these are highly important characteristics when it comes to longevity and easy care of a sports floor.

Double Feature: New Sports floor and Men’s Squash World Championships in Germany

Paderborn / Rosenheim – For the first time ever, the Men’s Squash World Championships are carried out in Germany this year. From 21st till 27th August the “Ahorn Sportpark” in Paderborn will be stage to the best Squash players of the world. The new “ShowGlasCourt” by the company ASB is currently being installed and will definitely do its name more than justice; during the world championship, the lightshow specialist “Lightpower” will illuminate everything. Also one of the sports floors by HARO Sports Flooring will play to the gallery, since it is presented for the first time ever in this format during the Squash World Championship.

The organisation committee chose top quality also when it came to the sports floor: HARO Sports Flooring, one of the leading manufacturers of portable and installed area-elastic sports floors, delivered the specially designed Squash floor HARO Sports Flooring model “Melbourne 65”. This floor has a depth-impregnated rough surface which impedes possible slipping even on wet floors. “Melbourne 65” is one of the few floors approved by the World Squash Federation and has often come into use at international squash championships.

Swiss A-League Basketball Team on HARO Sports Parquet The most beautiful basketball court in Switzerland – fitted with one of the best sports floors in the world

Granges-Paccot – Benetton Fribourg Olympic is one of the most successful teams in the Swiss Ligue Nationale de Basketball A, the top professional league in Switzerland. With its St. Léonard sports hall the club now also has the most beautiful asketball court in Switzerland, which it shares with the women of Elfic Fribourg, and which is also used as the Swiss national basketball team’s training centre. The 2,290 m² of the classic Berlin 12 sports floor in oak from HARO Sports Flooring, a leading manufacturer of mobile and permanently installed elastic coating sports floors, installed here for the league leaders, prove that the hall doesn’t just look good.

The new “Patinoire St. Leonhard” sports hall combines quality and aesthetics: the top quality Made in Germany floor and the pièce de résistance designed by Lorenz & Musso adea SA, Sion (architecture studio), and built under the guidance of the Andrey-Schenker-Sottaz SA (architect’s office) in Freiburg. The hall was inaugurated on 2 July this year in the presence of local dignitaries and sponsors.

Sports Floors Made in Germany

The HARO Berlin Sports Floor model is a classic support structure. The systems can easily balance out slight unevenness on the subfloor with the aid of balancing material. HARO Sports Berlin is elaborately equipped with double rocker supports, which are already preassembled at the factory.

A great view of the parquet from more than 2,700 seats on 23 tiers

The hall can be divided into three small separate sports halls with mobile sound-insulated partition curtains. It can be rapidly converted into an impressive basketball arena in just a few minutes. This is performed with stands, each one carried by 1,250 castors coated with polyurethane, which cover the two side playing areas, and therefore only leave the centrally parquet uncovered. With 23 tiers the stands weigh 77 tons each, have 1,296 seats, and are supplemented by a permanent stand with 145 seats. The sports hall’s entire technical infrastructure is on the ground floor: changing rooms, showers, sanitary facilities, sickbays, offices, etc. There are spectator rooms with bars and sanitary facilities on the first and second floors, which are reached by stairs. There are lifts for the mobility reduced and for goods transport. A perfectly well thought through building – from the roof down to the sports floor!

Dirk Bauermann showed how extremely satisfied he was immediately after the first training sessions. “I have known HARO Sports Flooring’s floors for many years now – and I know their qualities, which is why I also spoke up for the manufacturer in the planning phase.”
